Mechanical Failure, Breakdowns, or Repairs, is when a train requires a repair. Until it is repaired, the train will go at the speed of 25mph, taking a long amount of time to reach a destination. Trains can be repaired with coins, or train parts, which are obtained through Train Crates or Special Crates. The better the train is, the more it costs to be repaired in coins.

- It seems that after roughly 35 journeys, a train needs a repair.
- To see if a train needs a repair, the player can tap on the 'Train Icon' at the top right corner of the screen. If it does, then a yellow-black warning sign will appear next to the train.
- It is possible to retire the train when it needs a repair, and then put it back in service, and avoid having to repair it, but this does cost some Bux.
